What is VLB/VMTV?

You may have just stumbled upon this blog and wondered exactly what VLB or VMTV is. VLB stands for Virtual Laguna Beach, VMTV is Virtual MTV. They encompass Virtual 3-D chat worlds based on various MTV programs.

Skydiving in Newport

The latest rage for VMTV avatars is skydying in Virtual Newport. This happened to me on opening day when I was touring the USS Scorpio Yacht. It's one funny glitch that I hope they don't fix anytime soon.

To skydive from the ship, you walk to the left side of the yacht (your left if you are facing forward on the ship's front). You have to get to just the right spot up on the side panel of the ship and fall off. If you don't get it correctly, your avatar will fall down to the water or possibly underneath the ship. If you get it just right, your avatar begins a hilarious freefall from the skys above for a good minute, eventually landing on a vast grassland below. Keep trying if you don't get it the first time, and remember to save the Yacht as one of your favorite places.. Happy freefallin'!

Newport Harbor Opens!

The new virtual location, Newport Harbor is officially open for business. The VMTV site now includes a section dedicated to Newport here.

It's also been announced that two of the show's cast members will be stopping by to say hi to VMTV residents. Chrissy and Clay are scheduled to stop by today (Thursday 8/18). No time has been announced yet, but most likely anytime from 3PM EST to later such as 9PM EST.

Virtual Newport Arrives...

Being Mayor has its perks. One perk is I took a nice early morning tour of Newport Harbor, a location in our virtual world which will be released in conjunction with the new reality show on MTV. I think this could easily become a favorite spot of many virtual residents as well. So far I'm enjoying it more than the Virtual Real World. It has docks, beaches, towers, a water race course and yes even a yacht floating in the water for parties.

Here's some of the cool attractions you'll see in Newport. I particularly like the idea that you can now go on yacht/cruise ships as funzones. I took a tour of the SS Scorpio (pictured above), which is one nice party boat! Nice touch, now lets get Jay-Z and some other v-celebs to stop by for a party in the virtual world!
